McKenna Brown was a vibrant, compassionate, and talented young woman whose life was tragically cut short at age 16. Her infectious smile and warm personality lit up every room she entered. McKenna excelled academically, socially, and athletically, pursuing her passions with dedication and enthusiasm.
A gifted athlete, McKenna loved hockey, flag football, long boarding, and various other sports. She was a natural leader and a fierce advocate for her special needs sister. Friends and family remember her as fearless, witty, and always ready for a new adventure or challenge.
Despite her many strengths, McKenna faced devastating challenges during her high school years. At 13, she became a victim of cyberbullying when a private photo was shared without her consent. Though she worked hard to overcome this trauma, another incident of online harassment in the days before her senior year proved overwhelming.
On August 7, 2022, just days before beginning her senior year, McKenna made the heartbreaking decision to take her own life. Her passing left an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
In sharing McKenna’s story, we hope to raise awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and the profound impact of social media on young lives. We strive to keep her memory alive by helping others, just as McKenna always did. It’s #theMcKennaWay.
McKenna’s light continues to shine through the lives she touched and the positive change her story inspires. We invite you to always remember her infectious laughter, her kind heart, and her indomitable spirit. May her legacy serve as a reminder to spread kindness, support one another, and cherish every moment.
Forever in our hearts, McKenna Elizabeth Brown.
